In a bizarre early morning mishap on May 28th at Hollywood Park, versatile California bred mare Nashoba’s Key was euthanized after kicking a wall in her pen. She broke her right hind leg and was put down a short time later.

The five-year-old daughter of Silver Hawk reeled off seven straight wins on turf/synthetic ground to begin her career in Southern California last year. She ended up a troubled 4th in the BC Filly & Mare Turf to end her 2007 campaign, then returned to finish 2nd in the Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita in January.

Her final career start was a win in the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Handicap at Santa Anita on March 9th of this year. The millionaire miss was bred and owned by Warren Williamson, and conditioned by Carla Gaines.
