Golden Gate Fields analysis (June 19th)
It’s closing week at Golden Gate, and below is my Thursday analysis, complete with betting strategies. Pick 6 carryover a little more than $7k.
Got my 2nd best bet Patranzi (race 3) home yesterday, along with an exacta in the 5th. My other two best bets (Osiris Lunas, D’Wildcharm) ran 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Gonzalez and Figueroa both booted home a pair.

Best Bets (races 3, 5, 8)
Race 1 (Clm-8k, f&m 3up, 6f) Number 3 Gayle’s Gala (9-5) exits an above par course/distance tally, and Sherman is 33% with claiming repeaters and 38% up a class level. Number 6 Francesca Slew (7-1) drops, attracts Alvarado, and can sweeten the exacta pot. The Plays: Exacta 3-6
Race 2 (Clm-25k, 3up, 8.5T) Number 5 Sweet Roberto (6-5) is the kind of fav I like to knock off, but he looms the controlling speed today. Number 3 Natural Touch (4-1) was a respectable 4th versus a decent field in his lone turf start. He’s rounding back to form for Alvarado/Morey and could surprise with a bit of pace help. The Plays: Exacta 5-3, Quinella 3-5
Race 3 (Clm-6250/2L, f&m 3up, 8f) Figueroa won a pair yesterday, and the hot rider teams up with Number 4 Point Proven (8-5) in the opening leg of the Pick Six. The aforementioned rider is an impressive 6-7 with Steve Sherman, and the chalk looks tough in this spot. Number 1 Fiesty Rose (7-2), the other Sherman runner, can rally to complete the exacta. The Plays: Exacta 4-1, $2 Pick Six 4/2-11/7/5/1-6/1 ($8)
Race 4 (Mcl-8k, 3yo fil, 8f) Number 2 Hurricane Retsina (6-5) tracked an above par pace, took over, and weakened to 3rd as the fav versus similar course/distance foes last time. Alvarado clicks with King Jerry, and graduation day has arrived. Profitable trainer Barbara Heads won a race here yesterday, and her Number 11 Loveinamist (9-2) drops to her lowest level and certainly fit with these. The Plays: Exacta 2-11
Race 5 (Mcl-20k, 3yo, 8.5T) Number 3 Touch Continent (15-1) is an interesting invader for sneaky SoCal trainer Moon Han. Barn is 2-7 1st grass, and Alvarado hops aboard. Number 7 Dry Man’s Gulch (7-5) was headed versus similar local turfers last out, and Miyadi has him in a winning spot. The Plays: Number 3 to win, Exacta box 3-7
Race 6 (Clm-4k, 3up, 5f) Number 5 Weekend Tiger (5-2) should trip-out in this sharp sprint. He’s back at his claimed level for Jauregui, who saddled a winner here yesterday. Number 8 Exactly (8-1) also returns to his claimed level, and he’s been in decent form since March. The Plays: Number 5 to win, Exacta box 5-8
Race 7 (Alw-40k, 3up, 8T) Number 6 Sacred Light (9-5) has reeled off three straight since returning to the weeds. Number 1a Our Partner (7-5) might get brave if able to sneak away early for Figueroa/Hollendorfer. The Plays: Exacta 6-1
Race 8 (Clm-5k, 3up, 8f) Number 1 Buen Mozo (5-1) was nabbed out of his last by 32% claiming artist Steve Miyadi, and both of his wins were accomplished in local routes, including his May 26th score at this distance. Number 6 Cryptoria Ridge (10-1) is an old fav of mine. He finished off a nice Pick 3 score for me a few years ago at Del Mar, and he’s won 3 of his last 4 for the high % Keith Craigmyle. Number 8 Owen Roe O’Neill (6-1) is 2 for 3 with a place finish over Tapeta, and the consistent off the pace sort has top connections in his corner. The Plays: Number 1 to win, Exacta box 1-6-8
Double/Pick 3/Pick 4 contenders (in order of preference)
Race
(1) 3
(2) 5-3
(3) 4
(4) 2-11
(5) 3-7
(6) 5-8
(7) 6-1
(8) 1-6-8
