Fillies take center stage in Grade 2 Beaumont
The $250k seven furlong Stonerside Beaumont is a great redemption spot for Tasha’s Miracle. John Sadler’s flashy filly showed a world of promise after three career outings, including a smashing victory in the Grade 3 Sorrento at Del Mar last summer. She tied up and missed her next engagement in the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante, and she returned a short horse in her first route attempt in Santa Anita’s Oak Leaf.
She had no chance in the sloppy Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, but she hardly disgraced herself in a respectable 4th place effort. She bounced back with an even show finish in her much needed flat mile seasonal bow, and note that she is a neck away from a three-for-three record in sprints. Sadler is an impressive 42% with the blinkers off move, and his talented charge sports seven rock solid drills for this.
Garrett Gomez and Robert Frankel, fresh from Grade 2 Madison success with Ventura, are back with younger stablemate Ariege. She fits the Polytrack winning profile as a proven synthetic/turf specialist in sharp form, but she might get overbet based on connections.
Golden Doc A is a consistent synthetic performer, but she meets numerous sharp, fresher rivals and must work out a trip from a disadvantageous outer post.
Finally, Todd Pletcher’s Passion sports the look of an underlaid slow speed horse, and she will not shake loose with Armonk and Keep The Peace signed on.
