July 24th Del Mar recap
Polytrack was fair once again. A stalker and a closer won the two turf routes. Bejarano booted home a pair.
In yesterday’s preview blog, I said that In The Forecast ($8.60) was Kaffeinator’s most likely upsetter in the opener, and they ran 1-2 all the way around the oval.
Synthetic specialist Doppio ($10.20) beat a quality field in the optional claiming feature. Arson Squad was flopping for the 6th time on fake dirt…he so needs conventional dirt. Peace Chant (2nd) looked like the winner turning for home.

Race 5: My racingonthenet free selection of the day.
Race 6: My MySpace free selection of the day.
Race 7 (Wickerr Hcp): Becrux won this restricted race for Drysdale last year, and the 2006 Woodbine Mile (G1) winner sure likes this grass course. We’ll see if he can rediscover his old self in 2008. Lang Field got back on the beam over synthetic ground last time, and he’s also a former Grade 1 winner. 2007 BC Classic (G1) show finisher Awesome Gem handles any footing, and he was beaten a length by Kip Deville the last time he grabbed the green.
