Del Mar day 7 recap + Thursday July 24th preview

by Jarrod Horak on July 23rd, 2008

Del Mar review (July 23rd)

The six Polytrack sprints played fair (2 wire jobs), and the two flat mile turfers were taken by stalking types.

Hat trick for Alex Solis, and the resurgent Garrett Gomez booted home a pair.

Race 6: The riderless horse (No Ka Oi) wreaked havoc in this flat mile grass affair, and Grecian (Tyler Baze) was thrown for a loop after Tyler went to the outside of the loose horse turning for home. Grecian went from 1st to 4th to 7th and battled back to finish 4th.

Del Mar preview (Day 8 - July 24th)

Race 1: Kaffeinator will probably be tough as the fav. He improved on the drop as a new gelding, and Bejarano sticks with the Sadler trainee. If there is a surprise package, then In The Forecast fits that bill. He was 5th of 8 in his long ago bow behind subsequent graded winners Dixie Chatter and Georgie Boy.

Race 5: Deb’s Mojo deserves another chance on the drop. Wesley Ward is 34% 2nd time back and 35% with straight maiden droppers. If she disappoints again, then 2nd timer Trash Master could get the job done for Bejarano/Abrams.

Race 7: My racingonthenet free selection of the day.

Race 8: My MySpace free selection of the day.
