Decent Friday night card on tap at Hollywood Park
Friday night action is back in full swing, and here is a quick rundown of the Hollywood Park card for May 9th…
Race 1: There is enough pace in the opener to set the table for Shebang. The likely fav has disappointed in her last pair at low odds, but she ran well both times and should tag these.
Race 2: Anamanor earned strong pace figs in a turf route last time, and that bodes well for her turnback chances. I was on Missvinski in her long ago US bow, but she failed to fire her best shot in either of her starts in the country. She dons the hood and is working well for her first start in six months.
Race 3: This race is my racingonthenet free selection of the day.
Race 4: All About Larry is the morning line fav, but Bejarano abandons for second betting choice Stomp Dance, and the latter looms an elusive target off the claim. Comedy Is Magic showed marked improvement off a lengthy layoff and deserves a longshot look.
Race 5: Sportie’s Squeeze is back at his claimed level for Hollendorfer and can hang with this type of turf sprinter. No Ka Oi was nabbed out of his last by Julio Canani and can easily make it two straight turf sprint wins. Mama Lula has been sharp since Febraury and should make her presence felt throughout from the hedge.
Race 6: Dr. Skimming was all over a decent pace in his needed local comeback, and he figures to be tighter for this. Crash Landing is 7-2 on the line and is reportedly training well for his bow. Note that he is stabled here, and dam has tossed a pair of stakes winners.
Race 7: Major Pleasure looks tough at low odds. He tailed off after a promising start to his career. He’s firing local bullets for this and could easily return in the pink. He was headed in his lone local outing.
Race 8: Burnt drops out of the straight maiden ranks and switches surfaces for Frankel. Adobe Hacienda showed promise after a troubled start off a long layoff in her second career outing. My Sister Laureen finished a troubled 4th in her Santa Anita bow, and I have always liked her sneaky trainer Jorge Periban.
