Can Gayego get the Kentucky Derby distance?
Improving Southern California based Kentucky Derby candidate Gayego worked well in the Churchill mud on April 26th, and all systems appear go on the first Saturday in May.
He has fired big shots in all five of his career outings, and the versatile early/pressing type exits a sharp score in the Arkansas Derby. Only two route races are a concern in regards to Derby foundation, but he does have some strong stamina influences on the female side of his pedigree, and I respect his low profile conditioner Paulo Lobo.
His rider Mike Smith nabbed the 2005 Kentucky Derby with Giacomo, and he seemingly has a fair shot at his second Derby triumph.
