An equine herpesvirus scare lead to 77 scratches over the weekend as no horses were allowed to ship in or out of Fair Grounds. The ban has since been lifted, and things should return to normal as we creep closer to the New Year.

Santa Anita Park news for December 29th: $156,069 Pick 6 carryover

Proudinsky ($4.60) got the job done over my two value contenders (Ferneley & Medici Code) in the San Gabriel Handicap (G2) on Sunday, but four upsets earlier in the Pick 6 sequence set up a carryover of $156,069 for the 9-race Monday program.
