Divine Park runs down Commentator in Met Mile

Heavy favorite Commentator ran his race in Monday’s Grade 1 Met Mile at Belmont Park, but Robert Frankel’s First Defence softened him up, which enabled Divine Park to run on by in the final yards.
Commentator broke on top and set fractions of 22-2/5, 44-2/5, and 1:09-3/5, but First Defence never let him have a […]

Eight after Shoemaker glory

The Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile, the 9th race at Hollywood Park on Memorial Day, is an interesting contest between Ever A Friend and Daytona.
Daytona is a proven stakes performer. He has won five of his last six graded turf routes, and his consistent early/pressing speed always gives him a leg up on the competition, but […]

Precious Kitten likely to purr in Hollywood Park’s Gamely

Monday’s nine-furlong Grade 1 Gamely (race 3) attracted just five fillies and mares, including win machine Rutherienne. The 9-for-11 late running miss has never earned a triple digit speed fig, but she has a nose for the wire and will be finishing once again. However, she will not get much pace to chase in this […]

Commentator favored in Grade 1 Met Mile

Nick Zito’s Commentator is the 6-5 morning line choice in Monday’s Grade 1 Metropolitan Mile at Belmont Park. He exits a pair of facile wire jobs at Gulfstream, and he is 4-6 at Big Sandy and 3-3 at a flat mile. Those are impressive stats indeed, but the enigmatic sort has tossed in a low […]

Problem feet continue to hinder Big Brown

In the past Big Brown has suffered from quarter cracks in both of his front feet, which explains why he only started three times prior to the Triple Crown series.

Everything seemed fine following his effortless Kentucky Derby triumph, but he ran down from behind in the Preakness, and now he has developed another quarter […]

Impressive graduate Dancing In Silks tackles winners

Dancing In Silks strolled to an effortless wire-to-wire maiden breaker and garnered a triple digit speed rating in his second career start at Hollywood Park on April 27th.
The aforementioned win followed a promising place finish in his Santa Anita bow, and the Carla Gaines three-year-old gelding might prove impossible to catch in Sunday’s 7th, […]

Belmont Stakes Preview (May 22nd): Denis of Cork intrigues

Denis of Cork was considered a top Kentucky Derby candidate after three victories in as many starts to kick off his career, but his schedule was interesting to say the least after that.

Belmont Stakes Preview: Tale of Ekati drills sharp four furlongs

Tale of Ekati, last seen finishing a better than expected 4th in the Kentucky Derby, worked a sharp four furlongs in :46.84 on May 20th in preparation for the June 7th Belmont Stakes.
